21 Life-Changing Gifts That Bring Hope This Christmas

By: Clare Bruce

Every Christmas, the Samaritan’s Purse Gift Catalogue gives Australians a chance to ease suffering and make a real difference for people in developing nations.

The catalogue raises support and promotes awareness towards the charity’s international and domestic relief work, and their year-round development programs. These include programs in clean water, animal and farming livelihoods, education, and health and medical care.

Gifts such as egg-laying chicks, a drilling well for a community, equipping a classroom, or providing a month of food for a family, all demonstrate God’s love in a practical way to people who are hurting.

Samaritan’s Purse doesn’t just work in developing nations, however.

Right now, staff and volunteers with Samaritans Purse Australian Disaster Relief, are based in the flood-impacted town of Rochester in central Victoria, performing a wide scope of recovery work from installing flat-pack kitchens, cabinetry and bathroom vanities, to yard clean-ups and green waste removal.

The work is being done in collaboration with Campaspe Shire Council Flood Recovery Hub and other recovery agencies with the aim to return residents back into their homes before Christmas. That’s why this year’s gift catalogue features Sammy, a plush koala dressed in the iconic Samaritan’s Purse orange T-shirt, as a token gift for donations of $100 or more towards the Australian Disaster Relief ministry.

This Christmas season, you can be involved in creating opportunities to ease suffering and to introduce people to the Prince of Peace who said, I am with you always, even to the end of the age(Matthew 28:20 NKJV).

You can explore the 21 Samaritan’s Purse gifts online at gifts.samaritanspurse.org.au. For all gifts purchased you will receive a beautiful gift-specific card to fill and pass to a loved one this Christmas.
