When Calls the Heart season TEN is coming very soon!

It’s the news Australian fans of GOOD‘s viewer favourite period drama, When Calls the Heart have been waiting for all year: brand new season 10 episodes will premiere from August 2 on the streaming platform.

When Calls the Heart follows the adventures of Elizabeth Thatcher Thornton, a young teacher, and the community of Hope Valley, a small town in Western Canada. There, life is simple – but often fraught with challenges. Elizabeth must learn the ways of the rural West if she wishes to thrive on her own, but she soon learns that friendship and community are the source of love and life.

Over the years – and seasons – we’ve been right there with Elizabeth and her close-knit community through the good times and bad. We’ve seen romance and drama, sickness and injury, new businesses, mine disasters and oil-well explosions, births, deaths and marriages and lots of faces come and go. Hearties, the name given to the die-hard fans of the show, are very excited to see what the new season has in store for the residents of Hope Valley.

“This season is full of beautiful moments and exciting twists and turns. I can’t wait for the Hearties to see what we’ve created for them!” actress/executive producer Erin Krakow said in an official statement.

“We have so many more stories to tell,” she continued. “With our amazing cast, crew, and brilliant writers, there will be no shortage of romance and new adventures for the residents of Hope Valley! Having the Hearties continue this journey with us has meant the world and we are thrilled to share what’s in store!”

A new showrunner this season

One major change happening behind the cameras is the introduction of a new showrunner. Lindsay Sturman, a seasoned television writer and producer with a career spanning over 15 years in the industry, will take over the top job.

“When Calls the Heart continues to push the limits as to what we can achieve with this show,” said Lisa Hamilton, Executive VP of Programming for Hallmark Media, in a statement. “There are many more stories still to be told about the lives of the beloved characters in this series and we cannot wait for everyone at home to tune in to see what unfolds.”

Even though viewers are still waiting for the premiere of season 10, the very popular series has already been renewed for an 11th season.

“When Calls the Heart has continued to be a standout … we’re thrilled that we’re able to bring more stories of faith and community to the homes of millions of viewers,” said Ms Hamilton when announcing the renewal of the show. “The uplifting nature of the show paired with the love and positivity in the storytelling makes for a very heartwarming television experience, and it’s only going to get bigger and better.”

What to expect in season 10

When asked about the future for Elizabeth and her new fiancé Lucas, co-executive producer and writer Elizabeth Stewart told Entertainment Tonight, “All I can say is that the course of true love never did run smooth.” Does this mean there is a bumpy road ahead for the two?

As for the other big couple in the show right now, she thinks Rosemary will be just as “take-charge” with her pregnancy as she is in everyday life. “Which of course means she’s in for some shock and surprise,” she says.

What has been revealed is that with Elizabeth and Lucas’ wedding day approaching, Season 10 will be a season of romance. Faith, Hickam, and Bill find new love, while Elizabeth and Lucas navigate the joys and unexpected challenges of impending matrimony. Additionally, Hope Valley faces an economic downturn together. Meanwhile, Elizabeth and Bill learn that the children of Hope Valley have made a discovery that could change the future of the town.

Hearties will be looking forward to seeing more of the Hope Valley children, many of whom have been with the program for several years. With covid restrictions severely limiting the time that the younger members of the cast could be on set, it will be wonderful to see their storylines expanded, now things are back to normal.

For those looking to refresh their memory or watch some earlier episodes for the first time, season 9 starts on 21 June, Wednesday nights at 7:30 pm* with double episodes in the lead-up to the season 10 premiere on 2 August. Episodes will be available for catch-up via the GOOD website and free TV and mobile apps after airing, with new episodes available weekly.
