A GOOD Tech Update
BY: GOOD.
Have you ever wondered how a streaming and broadcast channel like GOOD actually works? While we do lots of admin, marketing, aquisitions, contracts, editing, compliance, IT, app management and many other jobs at our offices on the Sunshine Coast, the GOOD broadcast and live streams are managed by Telstra Broadcast Services in Sydney.
What is TBS?
Telstra Broadcast Services (TBS) is at the heart of modern broadcasting in Australia, providing state-of-the-art facilities and innovative media solutions to bring channels like GOOD to viewers across the nation. Operating as a hub for content management, distribution, and monitoring, TBS is equipped with advanced technology that ensures seamless delivery of television and digital media to millions. Their infrastructure allows channels to reach audiences on a large scale with optimal quality and reliability, a vital component for platforms focused on inspirational, family-oriented, and faith-based content like GOOD.
What do they do for GOOD?
For GOOD, TBS plays an essential role in ensuring that every program, from heartfelt documentaries to faith-based dramas, is delivered smoothly and at the highest quality. TBS hosts our broadcast hardware and monitors our channel to ensure that it runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This hardware does everything from storing videos to maintaining the broadcast schedule, streaming via our GOOD app to playing out our channel to Foxtel, Fetch and Binge. This partnership enables GOOD to focus on its mission of bringing uplifting content to Australian homes without disruption. By supporting the technical intricacies of broadcast, TBS allows GOOD to focus on curating impactful content, reaching a diverse audience, and growing its influence as a positive media presence across Australia.
How do supporters help?
Recently our IT technician, Matt, travelled to TBS in Sydney to repair and upgrade some of our equipment. This included installing a new web streaming device that sends our live broadcast to the GOOD app more reliably and at full HD resolution. You should be able to see the higher quality right now in the LIVE section of the GOOD app. As well as this, he also made repairs and upgrades that will keep us on air and up-to-date with the latest professional TV broadcast standards.
This essential maintenance and ongoing improvements are made possible through the generous support of our donors, enabling GOOD to stay at the forefront of broadcast and streaming technologies. Your valued contributions ensure we remain relevant and competitive in a fast-paced and discerning industry, both today and in the years to come.
