A GOOD Tech Update

BY: GOOD.

Ever wondered what keeps GOOD on the air?

While our Sunshine Coast offices are a hive of activity, covering everything from marketing and acquisitions to editing, compliance, IT, contracts, and app support, the actual broadcasting and livestreaming of GOOD plays out from our equipment hosted by our trusted partners at Telstra Broadcast Services (TBS) in Sydney.

So, what is TBS?

Telstra Broadcast Services is one of Australia’s leading broadcast and media technology providers. They deliver cutting-edge infrastructure and services that power some of the country’s most-watched content – including us here at GOOD. Acting as the technical nerve centre, TBS oversees the management, distribution, and monitoring of TV and digital channels to ensure high-quality, reliable delivery to homes across the nation.

Their expertise and innovation make it possible for channels like GOOD to be seen, seamlessly and consistently, on platforms like Foxtel, Fetch, Binge, and through the GOOD app.

What does TBS do for GOOD?

TBS manages and maintains the data centre that hosts our broadcast infrastructure – the hardware and systems that store our content, run our playout schedule, and handle our livestreams. They also monitor our channel 24/7, ensuring every show, special, and message of hope goes to air exactly as planned.

Whether it’s a late-night documentary or an afternoon movie, TBS ensures that our movies and TV make it into your home, so GOOD can stay focused on what we do best: creating and sharing inspirational, family-friendly, and faith-based programming for all Australians.

How do supporters help?

Recently our IT technician, Matt, travelled to TBS in Sydney with our Production Manager Leigh to replace some faulty broadcast equipment. The replacement computers are much more capable, ensuring our broadcast and livestream are rock-solid. They can also store much more video, meaning that we can stay on-air even if there are problems elsewhere in our systems. The new hardware is also ready for the future, by ensuring our equipment and delivery stay ready to support even higher definition as viewer and platform expectations evolve – so that we can deliver an even sharper, more immersive experience.

This essential maintenance and ongoing improvements are made possible through the generous support of our donors, enabling GOOD to stay at the forefront of broadcast and streaming technologies. Your valued contributions ensure we remain relevant and competitive in a fast-paced and discerning industry, both today and in the years to come.
