A Miracle Worth Believing In

Why GOOD Matters More Than Ever
For 27 years, GOOD has quietly been part of the rhythm of everyday Australian life. It’s been there in loungerooms after long days, in homes searching for something safe and uplifting to watch together, and for people in need of comfort, encouragement, and hope in difficult seasons. Long before streaming platforms and endless entertainment choices, GOOD set out with a simple but powerful vision: to create a place where Australians could access positive, values-driven entertainment that reflects what is good in the world. And against all odds, that vision has remained on air 24 hours a day since Easter Sunday 1999.
But what many people may not realise is that GOOD itself has always been something of a miracle.
For most of its history, the channel was privately funded behind the scenes so Australian families could continue enjoying inspiring entertainment completely free. When that support unexpectedly ended, the future of GOOD suddenly became uncertain. Since then, a small but deeply committed team has worked tirelessly to keep the vision alive while exploring every possible avenue for long-term sustainability.
Now, GOOD faces one of the most significant moments in its history.
An urgent $1 million funding shortfall must be met by 30th June to keep GOOD on air and available for the many Australians who rely on it every day.
That’s why this End of Financial Year appeal matters so deeply.
This appeal is not simply about keeping a television channel running. It’s about protecting something rare in today’s media landscape – a place where families can gather together without worry, where kindness and hope are celebrated, and where viewers are reminded that goodness still exists. For some people, GOOD is companionship in a lonely house. For parents, it’s somewhere they know their children can safely watch. For others walking through illness, grief, or hardship, it’s a daily source of comfort and encouragement.
The heart behind this appeal is beautifully reflected in the Bible story of Gideon – a reminder that even when resources seem small, extraordinary things can happen through faith and people coming together for a shared purpose.
At GOOD, we continue to believe in that possibility.
There is still a place in Australia for uplifting entertainment, meaningful storytelling, and content that strengthens families and communities. The GOOD vision still matters, and every person who watches, prays, shares, or gives helps keep that vision alive for someone else.
As the 30th of June approaches, you are invited to stand with others just like you who believe in this vision. Whether through prayer, sharing the message with others, or making a tax-deductible contribution, every act of support helps keep GOOD available for the people and families who need it most.
Because sometimes, in a world that feels increasingly noisy and divided, a little more GOOD matters more than ever.
