CARE OUTREACH: CHRISTMAS FOR THE BUSH
BY: GOOD. with information from CARE OUTREACH
Christmas for the Bush
Christmas for the Bush is the major annual event of Care Outreach, GOOD‘s Do GOOD partner organisation for November.
Starting in late November, this campaign is a three-week long undertaking, as Care Outreach volunteers visit their families, face-to-face, delivering Christmas hampers, providing visitation, entertainment and some much-needed festive cheer.
Due to the size of this project, Care Outreach receive donations and goods year round for CFTB.
To assist with packing and assessments of aid on hand, it is requested that donations be received by the end of October. Packing of all aid requirements, hampers etc occurs in early Nov.
How to Help
DONATE
Gift Cards
This year, Care Outreach are again focusing on the donation of pre-paid Visa Cards or Fuel Cards to enable them to distribute these directly to the families for use in their immediate area thus ensuring support of the local businesses in their communities. Please be mindful that ‘store branded’ cards eg: Coles & Woolworths have very limited use through the Outback. IGA & Foodworks are acceptable.
Financial donations to Care Outreach’s Disaster Account or by Credit Card enabls them to bulk buy these cards.

Warehouse/In-House Volunteers

- Clothing & Linen – (mostly pre-loved) includes sorting, processing and boxing. MUST have a very particular eye for detail and quality
- Pre-loved books & toys – help is needed to sort, check over, clean, box up etc. Part of the job is ‘quality testing’ the toys (yes that means play with them – for the kids at heart!)
- Homewares & bric a brac.
- Seasonal assistance may be required as prepartions get underway for Christmas for the Bush.
Care shoppe and Op Shop Volunteers
There are a lot of tasks required to keep this area going:
- Ironing lady/man
- Restocking
