🌼 Give Yourself a Digital Spring Clean
BY: GOOD.
Because your inbox deserves a breath of fresh air too.
As the jasmine blooms and the days stretch out a little longer, something shifts in us. Spring invites renewal – not just in gardens and wardrobes, but in our digital lives too.
We update our playlists, switch out doona covers, maybe even clean the fridge (heroic!). But what about our phones? Our inboxes? The stuff we scroll through without even thinking?
This season, we’re making a gentle call: give yourself a digital spring clean. Nothing harsh. Just a few mindful steps to help your digital world feel a little more you — less clutter, more clarity, more good.
🧼 1. Declutter Your Digital Space
Spring is the perfect time to finally say goodbye to:
- Apps you never open (goodbye random meditation app from 2022).
- Screenshots of parking tickets, memes you forgot to send, and 48 blurry photos of the same sunset.
- Subscriptions you don’t use or newsletters you never read.
Small shifts here free up space and reduce the digital noise that follows you around in your pocket.
🌿 2. Refresh Your Media Diet
Just like your body feels better after a weekend of sunshine and salad, your mind feels better after consuming content that lifts you up.
Ask yourself:
- What’s in my feed that makes me feel more anxious, not less?
- Whose voices do I actually want to hear more of?
- Which accounts, podcasts, or shows align with the values I want to carry into spring?
This is a great time to mute, unfollow, or mix it up – follow someone new, someone local, someone doing good things.
📧 3. Tidy the Tabs
How many browser tabs do you currently have open? Be honest.
(If it’s more than 15, it’s time.)
Try:
- The “one-tab-a-day” rule: close or action just one per day.
- Bookmarking a folder called “Spring Clean Later” – move stuff there instead of pretending you’ll get to it this week.
- Using a to-do app or digital note to offload open loops.
Think of it like clearing bench space in your kitchen. You’ll breathe better.
🌸 4. Curate Your Calendar
Spring tends to get busy – events, holidays, end-of-year energy.
Before it rushes in, take a beat to:
- Review your calendar and remove anything that’s there by default, not desire.
- Add in things that matter: breaks, catch-ups, media-free weekends.
- Set gentle boundaries: maybe a “no meetings before 10” rule, or one screen-free day a month.
Digital time is still time. Guard it with care.
🔌 5. Take a Guilt-Free Break
And finally – give yourself permission to not be constantly available.
The world won’t end if you don’t answer a message for a few hours.
You don’t need to document every sun-dappled brunch or coastal walk.
It’s okay to leave your phone inside while you garden, nap, wander.
This spring, make space for your own attention again. You’ll be surprised what starts to grow.
🌼 One Last Thing…
GOOD. is all about thoughtful content – the kind that leaves you feeling a little better, not worse.
So as you dust off the shelves and shake out your doona, consider doing the same for your screen time. A digital spring clean isn’t about being perfect – it’s about making space for more of what matters.
If you’ve got tips, rituals, or playlist swaps to share – we’d love to hear them.
Here’s to clearer screens and sunnier days 🌞
