What did you think of WHEN CALLS THE HEART S13 Ep9?
If there was ever an episode designed to make Hearties laugh, cry, reminisce, and completely melt emotionally, “Lost and Found Again” may just have been it.
Even before the episode began, fans were already emotional. “This episode gives all the feels,” Emily warned ahead of time, while Wen — devastated she couldn’t join live because of visitors — promised it sounded like “a ripper episode (like they mostly all are!) 😊🫶❤️”.
And from the opening moments, it was clear this episode would be something special.
So what did everyone have to say? What did you think of season 13 episode 9?
Another mystery unfolded when LJ lost Jack’s medal. “Oh gosh poor little guy, he’ll feel so terrible,” Sharon wrote, as Nathan, Bill, and Oliver joined the search. The storyline quickly became far more than a missing object — it became a moving exploration of memory, grief, and keeping Jack’s legacy alive for his son.
The episode also gave viewers one very important topic to discuss: Nathan in blue.
“Ooh Nathan looks nice in blue!” Sharon announced early in the episode, with Tracy immediately agreeing: “I was also going to say I like Nathan in blue.” Honestly, the fandom consensus was unanimous.

Meanwhile, the Benson Hills schoolhouse storyline immediately brought both hope and tension. Emily shared the good news that the children could soon return home, though “the kids are nervous where they will have their school back in Benson Hills.” When the funding problems emerged, Sharon summed it up perfectly with: “Political shenanigans!”

At the heart of the episode, though, was LJ’s emotional journey to understand more about his father.
When LJ admitted he had “no memories of his dad,” the chat instantly became emotional. “Poor little man,” Sharon wrote, while Tracy praised Hyland Goodrich’s performance, calling him a “wonderful young actor.”

Elizabeth’s idea to create a scavenger hunt of memories about Jack became one of the most beloved parts of the episode. “Oooo a scavenger hunt about Jack,” Tracy wrote excitedly, while longtime viewers delighted in revisiting treasured moments from earlier seasons.
There was the saloon, location of their wedding, the jailhouse, complete with Bill telling a story of what a loyal friend Jack was and how he knew he didn’t do what he was being accused of..,

“I love these memories 🥰,” Tracy posted as the episode took viewers down memory lane.
Fans reminisced alongside the episode itself — remembering the Christmas Mountie Ball, Elizabeth and Jack’s early misunderstandings, Rosemary’s rocky introduction to Hope Valley, and Faith arriving in town. “I forgot Jack brought Faith to Hope Valley,” Sharon realised.
The episode became a celebration not just of Jack, but of the entire history of the series.
There was Rosemary telling tales of Jack as a little boy, acting in her plays with her.

And then, Henry revealing how Jack was instrumental in his change in direction.

“Another tale of the redemption of Henry Gowan. So moving,” Sharon reflected, while Emily marvelled: “Oh you wouldn’t think he was the same man from the earlier seasons.”

Some wise words from Henry had everyone welling up again, before Nathan summed up their journey at their last port of call…back to the house with a surprise guest waiting.

Charlotte’s return brought even more emotion. “Grandma Charlotte!!” Sharon exclaimed as Brooke Shields reappeared to share stories and memories of Jack with LJ. Then came the moment that truly broke the fandom: Jack’s letter to his son.

“A letter from Jack… for LJ??” Sharon wrote.
“Teary eyed here,” Emily admitted moments later.
“So beautiful,” Sharon added simply.

Meanwhile, back in town, one of the episode’s sweetest threads came through Lucas and Edie’s ongoing phone conversations as they worked together on the schoolhouse funding dilemma. Florence secretly listening in became an unexpected source of comedy all episode long. “Florence! You aren’t supposed to listening,” Emily scolded, while Sharon joked that it was “better than Mills and Boon audio book.” Even later in the episode, viewers were still laughing with “Lol Florence STILL listening” and “Lol oh Florence!!”

But beneath the humour, fans were loving the chemistry between Lucas and Edie. “Edie is all aflutter,” Tracy observed, while Sharon declared, “Tough man Lucas makes Edie weak at the knees.” Their all-night phone collaboration had everyone invested. “Did they just do an all nighter?” Emily wondered, while Tracy joked: “I wonder if they’ll go ‘you hang up’ ‘no you hang up’.” Sharon called it a “missed opportunity from the writers there.”
The entire episode beautifully tied the past to the future, especially through the Benson Hills schoolhouse design project. Elizabeth encouraged the children to help design their own school, leading to some touching and unexpectedly brilliant moments. “Wow. Impressive from Rupert and Opal!!” Tracy wrote as the children unveiled their ideas.
Sharon particularly appreciated the representation through Rupert’s storyline, commenting that “Rupert and his ASD is quite different for Elizabeth to teach… challenging in a good way.”
When Lucas decided to present Opal and Rupert’s designs to the building committee, the chat erupted in pride.

The episode’s final scenes delivered emotional payoff after emotional payoff.
Charlotte illustrating LJ’s memory book written so beautifully by Allie, “just like Jack did for Elizabeth’s book” left viewers emotional all over again, while the closing family dinner scene was described by Sharon as “the past and the future converging.”

And of course, as always, the ending came far too quickly.
“Aww its over. Way too fast!” Emily complained.
“Such a great episode,” Sharon agreed.
“That was wonderful,” Tracy added.
Perhaps Stephanie summed it up best when she wrote:
“I think that was one of my most favourite episodes ever.”
With only three episodes left in the season, Hearties are already bracing themselves for the emotional ride ahead — but if “Lost and Found Again” proved anything, it’s that WHEN CALLS THE HEART still knows exactly how to make audiences feel at home in Hope Valley.
