Weddings, Babies and Hope Valley’s Future: What Aussie Hearties Want From WHEN CALLS THE HEART Season 14
BY: Aussie Hearties!
And just like that, Season 13 has come to an end.
It was a season filled with heart, hope, redemption and new beginnings. We saw the wildfire trial finally reach its conclusion, watched Henry Gowen continue one of television’s greatest redemption arcs, and celebrated as Nathan and Elizabeth took the next big step in their relationship.
Now comes the hardest part for Aussie Hearties (and Hearties everywhere!) – the wait for Season 14.
The good news is that the Season 13 finale left plenty of storylines ready to explore when we return to Hope Valley. We recently asked Aussie Hearties what was on their Season 14 wish list, and while there were plenty of different ideas, a few themes emerged very quickly.
First Things First: Just Give Us The Wedding
If there was one thing almost everyone agreed on, it was this: don’t make us wait another season for Nathan and Elizabeth’s wedding.
Jennifer summed up the mood perfectly.
“But first a wedding for Nathan and Elizabeth and not some drawn out occasion like her wedding to Jack, but a quick wedding like Mike and Mei would be nice.”
After years of love triangles, false starts, heartbreak and waiting, many Hearties feel they’ve earned a wedding sooner rather than later.
Sharon suggested the show could easily solve the issue with its traditional off-season time jump.
“After the inevitable time jump from the end of the season to the beginning of Season 14 it should be in Episode 1 right? Then we can get on with family life stories.”
Jennifer agreed, pointing out that the show has used significant time jumps before.
“They did a time jump when Elizabeth broke up with Lucas, so why not with her and Nathan?”
Heather was even more direct.
“Even if no time jump, there’s no reason to drag out a wedding after all this time!”
Wen has a slightly different vision, hoping we get to enjoy some of the planning first.
“I’d like the wedding planning from Episode 1, and the wedding happening around Episode 3.”
Either way, it seems most Hearties agree on one thing: Season 14 should be the season of wedding bells.
Could Baby Be Next?
Once fans started talking weddings, the conversation naturally turned to babies.
“A baby for Elizabeth and Nathan 😊” suggested Alison.
“Absolutely,” Sharon quickly replied.
It’s a popular prediction, although not everyone is convinced it will happen immediately.
Heather pointed out the practical realities of filming with infants and wondered whether the writers might be content to leave Elizabeth and Nathan as a family of four.
“As much as a baby would be lovely, I don’t think it will happen. They seem happy with their little family.”
Then again, Hope Valley has plenty of other young couples who could be expanding their families.
Wen would love to see Mike and Mei become parents.
“Mike and Mei having a baby!!!”
Lyndal agreed, hoping for “babies to follow” and even suggesting “a little bro for Goldie.”
Heather also noted that actor Ben Rosenbaum will be a father in real life, joking that the show could simply let Mike bring his own baby to Hope Valley.
In fact, the conversation quickly turned into a vision of Hope Valley Day Care overflowing with babies.
“All the couples could have their own baby on the show and bring their real babies to Hope Valley Day Care!!” laughed Wen.
Young Love In Hope Valley
While much of the focus remains on the adult romances, several fans are excited to see the next generation stepping into the spotlight.
Wen is hoping that Allie and Oliver continue to grow closer.
“I’d like … Allie and Oliver growing into a more serious relationship.”
Given how much Allie matured during Season 13, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the writers begin exploring more adult storylines for her in the future.
And who knows? Heather even joked that if Elizabeth and Nathan don’t have babies, perhaps one day they’ll simply become grandparents.
“Unless Allie marries and they have grandbabies … now that could be fun!”
More Love For Faith, Molly and Jed
One recurring theme among fans was that several supporting characters deserve more attention.
Heather would love to see Faith finally find someone special.
“I’d like to see a love interest for Faith.”
Many Hearties would agree. Faith has spent years supporting everyone else in Hope Valley. Perhaps it’s time for her own romantic storyline.
Heather also questioned what happened to another developing romance.
“More of Molly and Jed’s relationship … or has that disappeared down the black hole?”
It’s a fair question. Their relationship showed promise, but fans would clearly like to see “Jolly” given more air time.
Michael is also hoping romance continues to blossom elsewhere.
“It would be good to see Lucas and Edie together, potentially married.”
In fact, Michael jokingly proposed a solution for everyone.
“Just do a mass wedding with them, Elizabeth and Nathan, and Bill and Georgie.”
Honestly? We’d watch it.
Henry, Christopher and Forgiveness
Heather reminded us that with the announced return of Abigail in season 14, could there be love in the air finally for Henry?
“Almost forgot! With Abigail said to return next season, I’m really really hoping for the relationship with Henry will finally happen! They can be first to the alter.”
One of Season 13’s strongest storylines centred on Christopher, Cooper and the fallout from the wildfire.
Michael hopes that story isn’t over.
“I’d like to see good things happen for Christopher and for Cooper’s dad to forgive him.”
Many viewers were frustrated by Joseph’s reaction in the aftermath of the trial.
Heather admitted she hopes the writers address it.
“I just hope they rectify Joseph being so… unforgiving.”
Michael saw things slightly differently.
“I liked the honesty of Joseph, but I do believe they should show him forgiving Christopher.”
Given WHEN CALLS THE HEART’s themes of grace, redemption and second chances, that feels like a storyline that still has room to grow.
Fresh Paint And New Beginnings
Some fans are looking beyond the romances altogether.
Lyndal would love to see Hope Valley itself continue to grow.
“New business in town. Some paint on the row homes.”
It’s exactly the sort of community-focused storytelling that has always been at the heart of the series. As Hope Valley continues to expand, new families, businesses and opportunities could bring plenty of fresh stories.
What Will Season 14 Bring?
If the Hearties were writing Season 14 themselves, Hope Valley would be preparing for weddings, welcoming babies, introducing new romances and finally giving a few overlooked characters the spotlight they deserve.
Whether all of those wishes come true remains to be seen.
But if Season 13 taught us anything, it’s that Hope Valley is always evolving. We predict wedding bells will ring early in the season, Lucas and Edie’s relationship will deepen, Christopher’s redemption story will continue, and Faith and Molly may finally get a chance at their own happily-ever-afters.
Whatever happens next, one thing is certain.
Aussie Hearties are ready.
And we’ll be counting down the days until we return to Hope Valley once again.
